"A good leader inspires people to have confidence in the leader, a great leader inspires people to have confidence in themselves."

Are you (or your child) headed to Georgia HOBY?
If so, congratulations! You probably have a lot of questions and this section of our website will hopefully answer most of them.
When are the seminar dates?
We are only having one seminar this year: June 3 - 5, 2011.
Where are the seminars located?
The seminar will be held at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, GA.
Why are the student participants referred to as ambassadors?
Each student attends Georgia HOBY as a representative of their respective high school. Thus, they are an ambassador of their school and their community.
Where do the ambassadors stay during the seminar?
Housing is in the university dorms.
Who else is at the seminar with the ambassadors?
The seminars are organized and facilitated by adult team leaders and adult senior staff. These adult volunteers undergo background checks. Additionally, junior staff members assist with the operation of the event. Junior staff members are previous ambassador alumni who return to Gerogia Hoby to lend a hand. Ambassadors are assigned to a team with a team leader. There are many opportunities to interact with all of the other students, but ambassadors go through activities primarily with their team.
What should the ambassadors bring?
• Sheets and bedding for a twin bed
• Alarm Clock
• Any props for the talent show (guitar, dance shoes, etc.)
• Neat, casual clothes
• Nicer, business casual or religious service clothes for Sunday
• Comfortable shoes
• Camera
• Sunscreen
Will we receive any more information?
Yes, ambassadors will receive a packet in April with more information and forms that will need to be returned.
If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to meeting parents and students at Georgia HOBY.
